ATM SCAM

Good afternoon,

There has been a rise in scams at ATMs across the east of the county - suspects engage with members of the public withdrawing cash and distract them in the process. This has been primarily with elderly customers and happening at banks, however we are asking you to stay alert and aware wherever you withdraw money.

Please share with family and friends, especially those who are elderly or vulnerable and remember -

Be aware of the insert for your card when using the ATM, if it looks like it has been tampered with or unusual, do not use the machine and alert staff inside the bank

Shield the PIN pad when keying in the numbers

If someone wants to talk to you or seems to be trying to get your attention while you are withdrawing cash, be wary of leaving the ATM unattended and out of sight. Make sure you alert suspicious individuals to police or staff inside the bank.

Store any cash taken out at the ATM securely and out of sight
